Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman recently responded to fans casting him as Poseidon in the big screen franchise's Disney+ reboot.

Lerman, who headlined Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, shot down speculation that he'll portray Poseidon in an interview with Esquire. "Oh, no. No one's hit me up about it, and I don't think I'm right for that anyways," he said. "But I also just don't even know if it's interesting to me, in terms of: I don't even know what that would be. But there's not a secret that's waiting to be announced or something like that. I do get asked a lot about it, and I hate to disappoint and be like, 'No, I don't know anything, and I'm not involved,' but that's the truth. I don't know anything about it."

That said, Lerman isn't entirely opposed to the idea of appearing in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The star confirmed in a previous interview that he'd be interested in a cameo role, although he was quick to point out that he wasn't attached to the production. Lerman also spoke positively of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast, including his successor as Percy Jackson, Walker Scobell. He added that he was excited for a new generation to discover Percy Jackson through the Disney+ reboot and praised the decision to involve creator Rick Riordan more fully in proceedings.

Original Percy Jackson Star's Advice to Walker Scobell

More recently, Lerman offered some words of wisdom to Scobell about taking on the Percy Jackson part. "The only advice I can give him is just to enjoy it while you're doing it," he said. "I think when you're young, at least when I was younger [playing Percy Jackson], you almost forget to enjoy it as you're a part of it. I really enjoyed it while I was doing it. Just take each second in and enjoy the newness of what you're doing and being a part of something like that. That would be the only thing I would tell him. I'd feel like a bit of a schmuck, giving him advice. You're great. You're there for a reason. Just do your job."

Lerman's advice to Scobell comes after comments by Riordan suggesting the young actor could be portraying Percy Jackson for many more years to come. Riordan expressed confidence that Disney+ will order several more seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, provided the franchise's fanbase responds positively to the series.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to premiere on Disney+ in early 2024.
