With main characters like Thomas Wayne and Alfred himself already cast for the Batman prequel Pennyworth, the upcoming series has now begun casting its supporting players. Ryan Fletcher (Outlander) and Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (King of Crime) have boarded Pennyworth as series regulars and will play the characters Dave Boy and Bazza, respectively.

The pair are described as Alfred's closest confidants, with the trio having made an exceptional team during their time together as special forces soldiers in the British SAS.

Since leaving the army, however, the Scotsman Dave Boy has become an alcoholic who is slowly drinking himself to death. Moreover, he seemingly has a pre-existing reputation for being the most volatile of the team. Meanwhile, Bazzas is described as being a "posh Bajan playboy" with a particular talent for logistics who is considered to be an invaluable member of Alfred's team.

The main plot of Pennyworth will revolve around Bruce Wayne's iconic butler in his younger days as he forms his own security company in the aftermath of his time as an SAS soldier. Along the way, he becomes business partners with Bruce's father Thomas Wayne, years before the boy destined to become the Dark Knight was ever born.

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, the Warner Bros. Television division behind such dramas as Krypton, Animal Kingdom and Longmire, Pennyworth will reunite Bruno Heller with Gotham‘s Danny Cannon, who will executive produce and direct the pilot. Heller will write and executive produce.
