Pennyworth: Epix's Alfred Series Casts Bruce Wayne's Mom

The upcoming Epix Batman prequel Pennyworth has been casting the stars of the series, and now it has found an actor to play the eventual mother of Bruce Wayne.

Deadline reports Emma Paetz has been cast in the series as Martha Kane. A member of a wealthy family, Martha is the eventual mother of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. She will star in the series alongside Jack Bannon and Ben Aldridge, who have been cast as the young Alfred Pennyworth and Thomas Wayne, respectively.

The drama series will be ten-episodes long and focus on an early-20s version of Alfred Pennyworth, a recent SAS veteran who opens a security company in London during the 1960s. Employed by Thomas Wayne, the series will explore how Alfred became such a trusted ally and protectors for the Wayne family.

Developed by former Gotham collaborators Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth, Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne, Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood, Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes, Ryan Fletcher as Dave Boy, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett as Bazza and Jessica Ellerby as the Queen. The pilot for the series is currently filming in London and is expected to premiere this summer on Epix.
