Over on Fox, Gotham is nearing its conclusion -- Gotham City is in flames, and it's up to Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) to rise up to the occasion, become the Bat and save his city. On the upcoming DC Universe streaming service's Titans, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) is on the outs with Batman, but he will find strength within himself as the leader of a new team. As one origin story ends and a legacy adventure begins, the premium cable network Epix will give us another Batman-related live-action series -- albeit one much, much different.

Three months ago, it was announced that the MGM-owned network would produce Pennyworth, a prequel series that explores the origin story of Batman's most trusted friend, mentor and ally, Alfred Pennyworth. Epix gave Pennyworth a straight-to-series order of 10 episodes for its first season.

Now, it appears that the series is already set to begin shooting in the fall. According to a listing from Production Weekly, the Batman prequel series will begin shooting in London, England on Nov. 21. It's said that the production of these 10 episodes will go on for seven full months, bringing the end of the shoot sometime in June.

Little is known about the series itself, other than it takes place in London during the 1960s, where a young Alfred, himself a British Special Air Service veteran, meets Thomas Wayne, the father of his future ward. While all fans know that Alfred has been working for the Waynes for a very long time, this will actually be the first time that we see how Thomas and Alfred met, and how the latter, ultimately, moved from London to Gotham City.

The series might share executive producers Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller with Gotham, but Pennyworth is not meant to be a prequel to the Fox series, where actor Sean Pertwee plays the role of Bruce Wayne's butler. There have been no official casting announcements for the role of young Alfred Pennyworth yet, although with a production start date that is fast approaching, that may soon change.

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, the Warner Bros. Television division behind such dramas as Krypton, Animal Kingdom and Longmire, Pennyworth will reunite Heller with Gotham‘s Danny Cannon, who will executive produce and direct the pilot. Heller will write and executive produce. As of this moment, Pennyworth does not have an official release date yet. Season 5 of Gotham will air on Fox sometime in 2019.
