The much-anticipated series premiere of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is here early, thanks to Showtime.

Ahead of its April 26 on-air series premiere, Showtime has released the first episode of the grisly series for free to view on YouTube, SHO.com and Amazon Prime Video.

Produced by Penny Dreadful's original show creator John Logan, City of Angels takes place in 1938 Los Angeles and follows Detective Tiago Vega and his partner Lewis Michener, who are investigating a set of brutal murders that delve them into the world of Mexican American folklore, the espionage actions of the Third Reich and witchcraft.

Natalie Dormer takes on the role of the newest villain Magda, a demon convinced all humans are essentially evil, who takes on three different forms: a German housewife Elsa, government assistant Alex and freedom fighter Rio.

Created, written and executive produced by John Logan, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels stars Daniel Zovatto, Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Jessica Garza, Kerry Bishé, Ethan Peck, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Dominic Sherwood and Johnathan Nieves, as well as Piper Perabo, Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, Lorenza Izzo, Lin Shaye and Adam Rodriguez in recurring roles. The series premieres April 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
