"Penny Dreadful" has added two familiar names to the cast of its upcoming third season with newcomer Shazad Latif joining as Dr. Henry Jekyll and returning star Patti LuPone taking on a new series regular role.

Variety reports that Latif, known for his role in "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," will play an interpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Henry Jekyll. LuPone, who played a mysterious figure from Vanessa’s past in "Penny Dreadful" season two, will have a new role as an American therapist named Dr. Seward in season three. LuPone's Dr. Seward will treat Eva Green’s  Vanessa Ives with an "unconventional new approach."

Created, executive produced and written by Academy Award nominee John Logan, “Penny Dreadful” follows Vanessa Ives (Green), Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Sembene (Danny Sapani) and Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) as they band together to take down the supernatural threats set upon their destruction. All the while, classic literary characters like Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney) and the Creature (Rory Kinnear) fight their own battles.

"Penny Dreadful" is scheduled to return to Showtime at an as-yet undetermined time in 2016.
