BBC broke the news today that Pearl Mackie has been cast as the new companion, along side current Doctor Peter Capaldi, for "Doctor Who" season 10.

Pearl Mackie will join Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi, as they adventure around the galaxy for the show's 10th season.  Pearl Mackie is the first companion to be cast since Jenna Coleman's departure late last year.

"Doctor Who" season 10 will also be Steven Moffat's last season as showrunner. It was announced in January of this year that Moffat would be stepping down after season 10 to hand the rains to "Broadchurch" executive producer Chris Chibnall.
