Peaky Blinders is currently filming its sixth season, which will be the show's last.

According to a report from Deadline, the period gangster drama will be concluding with Season 6, which recently began filming after a long production delay due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, series creator Steven Knight said that Peaky Blinders will continue in "another form," though what form that will take has not yet been confirmed.

"Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher," Knight said in a statement to Deadline. "We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form."

Executive producer Caryn Mandabach said that the stakes "have never been higher" for the Shelby family going into Season 6. She also added, "[Knight]'s scripts are incredible and mark the end of an epic story that has entranced audiences since it first started in 2013, but the world of Peaky Blinders will most definitely live on."

Season 6 of the BAFTA-winning series will be written by Knight, with Anthony Byrne returning to direct and Nick Goding producing. Executive producers include Mandabach, Knight, Jamie Glazebrook, David Mason, Anthony Byrne and Cillian Murphy. The Season 5 finale aired in Sept. 2019, with gangster-turned-politician Thomas Shelby (played by Murphy) alone in a field with a gun pressed to his temple.

Created by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders stars Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby and began airing on the BBC in 2013. All five seasons are currently available on Netflix. Season 6 of Peaky Blinders does not have a release date.
