The streaming service Peacock has delivered a variety of stellar first-quarter figures for its parent company, NBCUniversal.

According to THR, the first-quarter report for NBCUniversal revealed that Peacock has achieved 42 million sign-ups, an improvement on the 33 million sign-ups disclosed in the companies last quarterly report. Per NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell, a third of those 42 million sign-ups belong to monthly active accounts. He also observed that Peacock, in the span of 12 months, has reached "about a third" of the number of users Hulu has amassed over the course of 13 years.

Comcast chairman and CEO Brian Roberts also praised Peacock's success by pointing out how Peacock customers are watching "nearly 20 percent more programming hours each month than our traditional audience on NBC." He also noted that the service has cracked 1 billion total hours watched, "nearly double our plan." Roberts also mentioned "compelling" possibilities for bringing Peacock to international territories.

Launched in July 2020, streaming service Peacock's primary draws for customers have been the entire run of The Office as well as the presence of the WWE Network. Though the streamer's slate of original content is currently lighter than competing services like Netflix or Amazon, Peacock does have many high-profile original programs in development. These include the Natasha Lyonne mystery series Poker Face as well as a reboot of Battlestar: Galactica and a MacGruber TV series.
