Lost actor Matthew Fox is heading back to the small screen.

Fox will headline Last Light for NBC's streaming service, Peacock. The production hails from MGM International TV Productions and is based on author Alex Scarrow’s international best-selling novel Last Light. Fox will both star in and executive produce the limited series, which will consist of five episodes.

Last Light tells the story of a family fighting to survive in a world that has been suddenly thrown into chaos. Fox will star as petrochemist Andy Nielsen, a man who knows how dependent the world is on oil. As Nielsen sees it, if something were to happen to the world’s oil supply, it would set off a chain reaction: transportation would grind to a halt, supplies would cease to be delivered and law enforcement would be overwhelmed.

The chemist's worst fears come to light while on a business trip to the Middle East when his family is separated. His daughter, Laura, is back at home in London, while Nielsen's wife, Elena, and young son, Sam, are stuck in Paris. Desperate to find one another again, the family will sacrifice everything to reunite despite the chaos among them. Joining Matthew Fox in the series is Golden Globe award-winner Joanne Froggatt, who will play Elena.

Rola Bauer, the President of MGM International TV Productions, called the series a "timely thriller" regarding the world's dependency on oil. "Diego Piasek, our head of development told me about Dennie connecting with this important message," she explained. "Dennie is a multi-genre talented female director and her vision with Patrick and John, has shaped an urgent message for our audiences. We started this journey with Sydney and now with all our platform partners involved, we are poised to have this message heard in every corner of the globe."

Patrick Massett and John Zinman (Friday Night Lights, The Blacklist) will serve as showrunners on Last Light. Dennie Gordon (Jack Ryan) is set to direct and executive produce all five episodes. Last Light currently has no release date.
