The Peacock streaming service is now at 33 million registered users, in part thanks to adding popular workplace comedy The Office to its lineup in January.

On an earnings conference call with investors in December, Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts said The Office was "driving incremental users" to sign up. NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell said The Office is getting more viewership on Peacock than on its former home at Netflix, although he didn't present figures. Peacock became the exclusive streaming home for The Office in January.

The Saved by the Bell reboot, the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, sports and other library content also attracted new users, according to Roberts.

"Peacock has had an exceptional start," Roberts said, calling it "an unbeatable consumer value." In its last quarterly earnings report, Comcast said Peacock was at 22 million signups, with Shell updating that number in December to 26 million. Executives forecast that Peacock can hit between 30 million to 35 million active users in the next three years, with Shell saying, "The steady growth is very promising," beating NBCUniversal's expected benchmarks.

However, executives said that even with revenues topping $100 million in 2020, Peacock lost $700 million before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, owing to its startup costs. Losses of $2 billion in 2020 and 2021 are still anticipated at NBCUniversal.
