A new trailer for HBO Max's Peacemaker is on the way and series star John Cena has announced when audiences can expect to see it.

Making a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic Con 2021 Special Edition Masquerade Event, Cena announced that the trailer will premiere on Dec. 3 and teased, "I know you guys are super, super into this, so we're counting on you to be the driving force. Not only to watch it, but to get the world to watch it." He went on to say, "I love this show and I really think you will too."

A trailer for the series was released at the DC FanDome online event. It showcased Peacemaker fighting alongside the likes of Adrian Chase, also known as Vigilante, and an appearance by Judomaster, played by actor Nhut Le. The series is a spinoff of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, which introduced Peacemaker to the DCEU. Gunn has written all episodes of the upcoming series and serves as director on five of them.

Promotional material and clips have teased some of the companions featured in the antihero's show, including Eagly, his pet bald eagle. Gunn and Cena have said in the past that Eagly will "steal the show." In a previous interview, Cena said, "He's Peacemaker's pet eagle and he's Peacemaker's best friend... As a dowel with some green tape on it, Eagly stole the show."

As for the show itself, Cena has previously teased that the show will explore Peacemaker's past. He explained, "This guy is a loud, obnoxious, bro-ey douchebag... That sucks. But why? At what point did he become such a douchebag and what does that mean? There's a lot to dive into there." More than that, Gunn has said that the show will focus on real-world events. When the show was announced, the director stated, "Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag."

Peacemaker is not the only DCEU project underway with James Gunn attached. The director and showrunner previously teased that he is developing a different series, though he did not divulge any specific details, including the focus of the upcoming project. On social media, he said only, "Yes, I'm developing another DC project besides Peacemaker."

Peacemaker premieres Jan. 13, 2022, on HBO Max.
