WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Peacemaker, Season 1, Episode 7, "Stop Dragon My Heart Around," available now on HBO Max.

With one episode left, Peacemaker raised the stakes with a couple key deaths as the Butterflies began making plans to continue taking over the world. They realized Task Force X was closing in on their feeding system at Coverdale Farm, so they organized to get their source of food -- the "cow" -- out from the location.

However, as the final moments of the latest episode showed their rustic lab, fans discovered the being wasn't truly a cow. It was a giant alien kaiju, who was at once cuter and scarier than the devious Starro in The Suicide Squad.

In James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, the DC Extended Universe's take on Starro the Conqueror and its spores was pretty adorable. The depiction mainly stuck to the essence of the character from the comics and cartoons, but it got horrific as the giant started stomping through Corto Maltese, with its "babies" latching onto people's faces and mind-controlling them. It basically crafted a zombie army, but with aliens and a titan leading the charge.

Gunn carved out a similar atmosphere of cute horror when Peacemaker revealed the farm Chris and the A.R.G.U.S. members were targeting. In the barn, there were machines being overseen by Butterflies, such as Song and Locke, with the big plan being to teleport the creature out of danger. It made total sense because transport via the roads wasn't possible given the size of the monster.

The "Big Bad" is essentially a big bug, with multiple eyes, one tooth and a cute face reminiscent of the warm alien designs from the Star Wars movies. However, as the camera zoomed out and fans saw the full scope, the visuals had a more terrifying presence, like a caterpillar mixed with Jabba the Hutt. It's the kind of beast John Carpenter would cook up, leaving the audience curious if it was in pain. There did seem to be hints of suffering, so maybe the creature is a prisoner being milked to produce the amber fluid the Butterflies consume to survive.

The Cow is a giant alien in Peacemaker

Hopefully, it doesn't turn out to be a rampaging behemoth like Starro. Conversely, because the Butterflies are merciless, as seen with how they easily kill their own for being traitors, the cow may rebel to try to go free before being teleported. Either way, whether it's trying to escape or if it's unleashed as a dog of war, Peacemaker's team won't have the firepower to deal with this.

Task Force X had a mix of heavy-hitting soldiers and super-powered folks such as Bloodsport, Polka Dot Man, Harley Quinn and Ratcatcher, so they were equipped for such a job. But all Peacemaker's team has are guns, knives and bombs, which would make killing this cuddly yet intimidating creature a most impossible mission. Ultimately, they'll have to try their best because should the Butterflies' food source be destroyed, they'd then starve and die, thus leaving Earth safe.
