New footage from HBO Max's Peacemaker series teased a friendship between John Cena's titular anti-hero and Vigilante.

As seen in the newest trailer for DC FanDome 2021, which airs on Oct. 16, two short clips from the new The Suicide Squad spinoff series are shown, with Peacemaker and Vigilante, played by Freddie Stroma, shooting some big guns and high fiving each other.

The first look at Vigilante debuted in September, with an image of Cena's Peacemaker sitting next to Stroma's Vigilante, who appears to be the sidekick of the antihero. Also appearing in the image were Steve Agee as John Economos and Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, both reprising their roles from The Suicide Squad. Actor Chris Conrad was initially cast as Vigilante/Adrian Chase for the series after previously as a live-action version of the character on The CW's Arrow. However, Conrad inevitably left the series over creative differences and was replaced by Stroma.

In another recent teaser image for the series, Vigilante was partially shown with Peacemaker as the two engaged in some target practice. When asked by a fan on Twitter if that was, in fact, Vigilante in the image, executive producer James Gunn responded with, "Justice cannot be fully revealed," and added on "#BFFs" at the end of his tweet.

Season 1 of Peacemaker recently wrapped filming and is set to debut on HBO Max in 2022. Announced as a television series in 2020, Cena will reprise his The Suicide Squad role for the upcoming HBO Max series. "This guy is a loud, obnoxious, bro-ey douchebag," Cena previously said about his character. "That sucks. But why? At what point did he become such a douchebag and what does that mean? There's a lot to dive into there."

When the series was first announced, Gunn also said that the series "is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag." He said, "I'm excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series."

More exclusive details regarding the upcoming Peacemaker series will be revealed at DC FanDome. The recently released trailer for the event featured appearances from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Black Adam), Robert Pattinson (The Batman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), Grant Gustin (The CW's The Flash), Elizabeth Tulloch (Superman & Lois), Javicia Leslie (Batwoman) and Ezra Miller (The Flash), among many others.

DC FanDome 2021 begins Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. PT. The event will be streamed live on DCFanDome.com, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
