The official Peacemaker trailer provided the first live-action look at the DC/Charlton superhero, Judomaster.

The first full-length trailer for HBO Max's upcoming Peacemaker series premiered during 2021's DC FanDome event, offering a brief glimpse at Nhut Le as Judomaster fighting Adrian Chase/Vigilante, played by Freddie Stroma.

It was announced that Le would be joining the cast as Judomaster in February of this year. Created by Joe Gill and Frank McLaughlin, Hadley "Rip" Jagger, aka Judomaster, is a master of martial arts, specializing in judo and boxing. The character debuted in Charlton's Special War Series #4 in 1965, but transitioned to DC Comics during the Crisis on Infinite Earths event series. His exact role in the series has yet to be revealed.

Starring John Cena's Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, the trailer also introduced Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and returning characters John Economos and Emilia Harcourt (Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland), and even Peacemaker's father Auggie (Robert Patrick), who trained his son to be a killer in the first place.

Along with Judomaster, the series will also introduce the character Vigilante, but as Peacemaker's sidekick, who executive producer and The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn described as the "oddest character in the show." Ahead of this year's DC FanDome, HBO Max also shared two short clips from Peacemaker that showed the titular character and Vigilante shooting some big guns and sharing a high five.

Created Gunn, Peacemaker will pick up after the events of The Suicide Squad. Announced as a television series in 2020, Cena will reprise his The Suicide Squad role for the upcoming HBO Max series. "This guy is a loud, obnoxious, bro-ey douchebag," Cena previously said about his character. "That sucks. But why? At what point did he become such a douchebag and what does that mean? There's a lot to dive into there." This was addressed in the trailer, with Leota Adebayo nothing that he uses "being a jerk to push people away."

When the series was first announced, Gunn also said that the series "is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag." He said, "I'm excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series."

Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022.
