According to Peacemaker showrunner James Gunn, John Cena may be joined by one of his The Suicide Squad co-stars.

The Marvel and DC director hinted on Twitter that the Peacemaker cast would possibly feature a character from The Suicide Squad outside of those seen in the film's post-credits scene.

Responding to a fan who attended the virtual The Suicide Squad watch party, Gunn confirmed the cast of Peacemaker will consist of "Peacemaker, Emilia Harcourt, John Economos and, well, heck maybe one more." He refused to elaborate any further, leaving excited fans to guess the identity of this mysterious guest star.

Peacemaker will be the first DC series to spin directly out of a DC Extended Universe film. Much like the Marvel Studios series on Disney+, Peacemaker will share continuity with the films in its respective franchise. The project is written and produced by Gunn, who is also directing several episodes. Cena is the primary The Suicide Squad cast member making the jump from the big to small screen.

Although Gunn is committed to finally filming the long-delayed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 over at Disney, DC Films head Walter Hamada has reassured DC fans that Gunn has a future at WB.

Peacemaker premieres in 2022. All episodes will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max.
