While the first season finale of Peacemaker, "It's Cow or Never," saw a surprise appearance from the Justice League, showrunner James Gunn revealed that the upcoming second season of the John Cena-led HBO Max series will have more cameos from the DC Extended Universe.

During an interview with Total Film, Gunn discussed said cameos, though without naming any specific characters. "I think we're going to see more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max," he stated. "So those [cameos] will keep coming. I don't know if the Justice League is going to show up in every season of Peacemaker; that might be a one-time thing. We'll see!"

In regards to the Justice League's cameo, leading man John Cena noted, "[Jason Mamoa and Ezra Miller, who respectively play Aquaman and The Flash in the DCEU] were able to put themselves in the limelight and get everybody talking, but they do so in a way where the joke's not on them. And they did it for the good of our show. Whether that was their intention or not, it really, really, really, really helped us, especially after eight episodes of people being excited about the show, to put a stamp on it."

Cena also brought up whether Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would show up in Season 2 of Peacemaker, saying "it would be an honor and a privilege to be able to perform with [Johnson]." He added, "I think there still is a passionate marketplace that wants to see him in. But I'm sorry, man, that's just not my choice so I don't know. It's so far beyond me. It's beyond what I'm able to control." However, Peacemaker's fourth episode, "The Choad Less Traveled," features a Black Adam reference in the form of a headline that mentions both "Intergang" and the "nation of Kahndaq."

Outside of Peacemaker, it was announced earlier this year that Gunn was working on a second spinoff from The Suicide Squad for HBO Max. While it is currently unknown what the show will be about and who it will focus on, Gunn said that he does not think the project will "be the same genre as Peacemaker," adding that it "won't be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe." Prior to the announcement of the second spinoff, Gunn talked about doing more villain-oriented DCEU projects, noting that he has many ideas and that "[he and Warner Bros.] talk about it all the time."

Season 1 of Peacemaker is currently streaming on HBO Max.
