The Peacemaker series on HBO Max has been a big hit for the DC Extended Universe, showing it’s more humorous yet still quite violent side. It’s also been home to several obscure or glossed over DC characters, including Vigilante, and of course, Peacemaker himself. With another season in the works, several DC characters -- big and small -- should make the cut, even if their appearance is only brief.

From street-level heroes to more cosmic concepts, anything could go in Peacemaker Season 2. These new characters could expound upon ideas already used in the movies, as well as hint at new ones for future seasons, series or movies. Here’s just a few of the characters that would be right at home in the follow-up season of Peacemaker.

The Atom Would Have a Sizable Presence on Peacemaker

Ryan Choi Atom Dr Ray Palmer Justice League of America

Ryan Choi was introduced in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and the film’s ending heavily hinted at him becoming the Atom. Neither Al Pratt or Ray Palmer have been introduced in the DCEU, so Ryan might as well take the mantle.

The door is further opened for Choi since Ray Palmer is mostly absent from the current Arrowverse. Even though DC is typically open to multiple versions of the same character being in concurrent media, that might not be the case with a more minor character like the Atom. Not only would Ryan Choi’s heroic introduction in Peacemaker tie into a “canon” movie, but there could be tons of fun made of Ryan’s diminutive powers. Shades of the infamous “Thanus” joke would likely ensue, with such a technique likely being used in a season finale battle.

Ted Kord Should Establish the Blue Beetle’s Legacy

Ted Kord

There’s a Blue Beetle movie coming out set in the DCEU, and though it features Jaime Reyes, it’d be nice to introduce other heroes who’ve used the name. Ted Kord could be operating as a powerless Blue Beetle, or even just appear as himself, with humorous allusions constantly made to his insectoid alter ego. This would fit the more street-level tone of the series, not to mention the comedic one, all while tying into future film projects.

A Non-Martian Manhunter Could Add a Noir Tinge to Peacemaker

An image of Kate Spencer as Manhunter fighting enemies amidst a barrage of arrows

Kate Spencer is a more C-list street-level vigilante, but this makes her perfect for Peacemaker. A much more serious and hard-boiled character, she could essentially be what Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Vigilante should’ve been, all while also acting as DC’s Matt Murdock in her civilian identity. A more serious character would make for more dramatic, tense and even sad scenes, as well. Better yet, these appearances could act as a backdoor pilot for a Manhunter spinoff show. The fact that she's something of a blank slate would also work in her favor.

Green Lantern Needs to Be Established in the DCEU

Green Lantern Guy Gardner

HBO Max’s Green Lantern was one of the first DC projects announced for the platform, but it’s yet to have even a bit of footage shown for it. If it is indeed in the DCEU, it’d be cool if another show gave people a glimpse at what to expect. Since Guy Gardner is one of the Lanterns in the show, why not have him show up in Peacemaker? After all, James Gunn basically gave Peacemaker Guy Gardner’s gruff and arrogant personality anyway, so it’d be interesting to see how the two play off of each other. Gardner and Peacemaker were also once allies of Blue Beetle, so this idea can tie into the former one.

Black Adam Would Be the Biggest Surprise of Peacemaker Season 2

The hype is real for the upcoming movie Black Adam, which will introduce Dwayne Johnson’s Teth-Adam as the World’s Mightiest Anti-Hero. Even though Black Adam isn’t a “kiddy” character like a certain Big Red Cheese, he’s still the star of a major blockbuster film that’s meant to usher in a new, potentially lighter era for the DCEU. Thus, having him show up in Peacemaker, even if it’s just for a little bit, would be a must-see event. The character would likely respect some of Peacemaker’s methods, with the latter probably calling him something to the effect of “Superman, but badass.”

This would also add greater continuity to the DCEU in a more natural way, allowing them to achieve some of what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has while still being more standalone. Of course, those who’ve had major roles on Peacemaker have mostly been subversive takes on their traditional selves, so having the mighty Black Adam hanging around for too long might not quite fit.

To watch the journey of Chris Smith so far, both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are available to stream on HBO Max.
