New set photos from Peacemaker have surfaced online featuring John Cena's patriotic hero on the run.

In one image, Cena is shown leaping from a tall building and landing on the street. Another picture showcases Peacemaker standing in front of a truck looking winded. Notably, in all of the set photos, Peacemaker is missing his trademark helmet.

The Peacemaker series will spin out of the events of The Suicide Squad and focuses on the secret origin of Peacemaker -- aka Christopher Smith. Gunn, who wrote and directed The Suicide Squad, will pen all eight episodes and direct a few of them as well. Gunn has also said that although Peacekeeper is an origin story, it is not necessarily a prequel to The Suicide Squad. "It's a great example of what HBO Max can do with DC content in that we're producing at a level we haven't seen DC content on TV do thus far," HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys said while revealing that Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max in January.

Written and produced by James Gunn, Peacemaker stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl. The eight-episode series will arrive on HBO Max in January 2022.
