WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episodes 4 and 5 of Peacemaker, "The Choad Less Traveled" and "Monkey Dory," now streaming on HBO Max.

A promo for the sixth episode of Peacemaker, "Murn After Reading," reveals a big twist in the HBO Max series' Butterfly arc.

The promo begins with the ending from Episode 5, "Monkey Dory," which saw Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) being attacked by Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) after learning he is one of the Butterflies. Later, Peacemaker's father Auggie Smith is seen being released from prison with the intention of killing his son, John Cena's Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, followed by a shot of his White Dragon armor.

The promo then moves to Peacemaker's trailer, the Butterfly that he has been secretly keeping in a jar draws a peace symbol on the side of the glass, much to the bafflement of Chris and Vigilante. The promo ends with the police converging on Peacemaker's home, followed by Det. Sophie Song witnessing UFOs landing in front of her, which is accompanied by someone proclaiming, "You have got no idea what you're fucking with here."

Peacemaker had previously teased that there was more going on with the Butterflies than it seemed. In Episode 4, "The Choad Less Traveled," where viewers also first learn that Murn is a Butterfly, Judomaster cryptically told Peacemaker, "The Butterflies are not what [he thinks]." While their ultimate goals are currently unknown, the promo seems to hint that the Butterflies are not evil.

Series creator James Gunn has previously stated that Episode 6, "Murn After Reading," holds "a special place in [his] heart," but the episode he's most excited for audiences to see is Episode 8, which was kept secret from the press. "Eight is the best, yes," he said. "Eight is great. And I love six, I have a special place in my heart for six, but eight is the one that I really am excited for people to see. As you probably know, we've kept it. We haven't shown anybody. Nobody knows what's gonna happen in eight. But I know what's going to happen. The cast knows what's going to happen. Some of HBO Max knows what's gonna happen. We're all very excited to show people the last episode of Peacemaker. The last episode of this season."

New episodes of Peacemaker arrive Thursdays on HBO Max.
