Several major names have been added to the cast of Paramount and Nickelodeon's upcoming PAW Patrol animated movie.

Variety reported that Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian, Tyler Perry and Dax Shepard will lend their vocal talents to the film, which is based on Nickelodeon's popular children's program of the same name. PAW Patrol centers on a boy named Ryder and a crew of search-and rescue-dogs that work in the beach community of Adventure Bay. In the film, Ryder -- as well as pups Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky and Skye -- will attempt to stop Mayor Humdinger from turning the bustling metropolis into a state of chaos.

PAW Patrol is being directed by animation veteran Cal Brunker and produced by Spin Master Corp. Production on the film already started, with with creators, artists and producers collaborating remotely during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The PAW Patrol series premiered in 2013 and currently airs in more than 160 countries in 30 languages. It is  currently in its seventh season on Nickelodeon and has been renewed for an eighth season. While it's unclear which characters will be voiced by the star-studded cast, PAW Patrol: The Movie will also feature contributions from Randall Park, Yara Shahidi, Iain Armitage, Marsai Martin and Will Brisbin. The film is set for theatrical release by Paramount Pictures on Aug. 20, 2021.
