The votes are in and Paul Rudd is People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2021.Rudd's accomplishment was announced in the latest issue of People Magazine, wherein he discusses what it's like to take possession of the coveted title. "I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I'd be picked for this, they would say, 'What?" said the 52-year-old actor. "This is not false humility. There are so many people that should get this before me." During the interview, Rudd explains that his wife of 18 years, Julie, was the only person he told about the award ahead of time, insisting that he can't understand why he was chosen as the Sexiest Man Alive.Related: Halloween Kills Producer Explains Why Paul Rudd Won't Return

"After some giggling and shock, she said 'Oh, they got it right.' And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what's she going to say?" said Rudd, who also expects many of his friends to tease him following the reveal. "I mean I'm going to lean into it hard. I'm going to own this. I'm not going to try to be like 'Oh, I'm so modest.' I'm getting business cards made. But all of my friends will destroy me and I expect them to," jokes Rudd. Director and screenwriter Judd Apatow, who has worked with Rudd on several occasions, tweeted out, "I have mixed emotions about this."

Rudd is a long-time veteran of Hollywood, with many fans considering his big break coming from the beloved sitcom Friends as Mike Hannigan. From there, the comedian went on to appear in several influential films and series, including Anchorman, Forgetting Sarah Marshal, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Wet Hot American Summer.

Rudd is arguably most known for playing Scott Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shrinking onto the scene in 2015 in Ant-Man. He has appeared in several other MCU films, including Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Endgame.

As for upcoming projects, Rudd will soon be reunited with long-time friend and performer Will Ferrel in the creepy dramedy The Shrink Next Door which launches on Apple TV+ on Nov. 12. He also plays a significant role in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife (in theatres Nov. 19) and is set to return as Scott Lang in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in 2023.
