According to Paul Rudd, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will have some incredible fights largely because of Johnathan Majors.Rudd, in a red carpet interview with THR during the Quantumania premiere, describes what it was like filming scenes in which his Scott Lang/Ant-Man goes head-to-head with Majors' Kang the Conqueror. When asked what it was like to take a punch from his co-star, Rudd responded, "It's legit. It feels intense. He's really a great actor, and throughout the entire film, it felt as if he was a formidable foe."RELATED: Ant-Man 3 Reactions Praise the MCU's 'Weirdest' Story and Kang's Terrifying Presence

Kang's MCU Introduction

The Ant-Man star also joked about the size of his muscle-bound opponent, although he had nothing but praise. "He's also getting ready to go do Creed so any time we're doing any fight choreography or any of that...it was real," Rudd lauded. "It was amazing." Yet, it has already become abundantly clear that it's not just formidable size that Majors brings to the role of the time-bending antagonist Kang in the movie.

Indeed, according to Majors, Kang is a villain who "does not joke," and stands in stark contrast to Rudd's jokester Ant-Man. These comments were also echoed by the film's screenwriter, Jeff Loveness, who said he wanted to do something completely opposite from how viewers first saw Majors, as a variant of Kang in Loki called "He Who Remains," saying, "I think jumping off of Loki, where he's more of a whimsical, unexpected character, we just wanted to break expectations with this third movie."

Early reactions to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have been extremely positive, with many praising the film for its incredible story, emotional depth and uniquely weird direction. One critic even referred to it as a "psychedelic roller coaster." Viewers have also highly praised Majors' performance as Kang, saying he's deeply compelling and the standout of the film.

In a similar vein, many felt Rudd also deserved plenty of acclaim for his return as the titular Ant-Man, as viewers felt that his performance stood above previous depictions of the character. However, when asked if he would return for a fourth movie, Rudd was pretty tight-lipped, jokingly saying, "I have no comment on any of that stuff, not that I would know any of that anyway. I never do!" With that being said, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently hinted that early talks are already underway for Ant-Man 4.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. The film will officially kick off Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and introduce the Multiversal War.
