Paul Feig Tweets First Image of Ecto-1 in New 'Ghostbusters'

In a day full of "Ghostbusters" news -- between an image of Melissa McCarthy in costume and the casting of Neil Casey as the film's villain -- director Paul Feig decided to give fans a little bit more and tweeted the first image of the Ecto-1 in the upcoming film.

Like in the original, the car seems to be a modified hearse. However, whereas in the original the car looks a little sleeker and more "souped-up," this version seems a little more gritty and grounded, with the hearse base design much more evident and a red paint job across the top and back.

The movie's story centers at first on Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig's characters, authors of a book claiming ghosts are in fact real that find themselves laughing stocks in the academic community. They eventually meet up with Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones' characters and set out to prove the existence of ghosts -- presumably by 'busting them.

The “Ghostbusters” reboot is scheduled for release on July 22, 2016. The script is by Feig and Katie Dippold, who previously collaborated on "The Heat."
