Paul Cornell Returning to “Doctor Who” for “The Third Doctor” Comic Series

BBC and Titan Comics have announced a new “Doctor Who” five-issue comic series that will chronicle the adventures of the fan-favorite Third Doctor — as made famous by (Jon Pertwee) — and his companions Jo Grant (Katy Manning) and the Brigadier (Nicholas Courtney).

“Doctor Who: The Third Doctor” sees the return of “Doctor Who” TV and comics scribe Paul Cornell to the title, along with Christopher Jones on art duties.

Here’s a description of the series’ first arc, “The Heralds of Destruction,” from an official press release: “When something enormous and extraterrestrial crashes into Bedfordshire, the Doctor, Jo Grant, and the forces of UNIT under Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart mobilize immediately to investigate – and find themselves in the middle of a pitched battle against a terrifying invader! But the shocking face that awaits their return to base may tip their whole world off its axis.”
