One aspect of filming WandaVision's pilot apparently struck fear into the heart of one of its stars.

Speaking to EW's The Awardist podcast, Paul Bettany discussed his anxiety about filming in front of a live studio audience. "I was really recalcitrant when, when Matt said we're gonna do the first episode in front of a live studio audience," Bettany said. "I was like...What are you talking about? We can't possibly do that. And I haven't been in front of a live studio audience for 25 years, and I don't want to be, and I'm already frightened because I'd started really watching Dick Van Dyke and going, God, it's so -- it's so skillful, what he's doing, and I was terrified."

Bettany continued, "And we shot it in one day, and then came back for specials and pickups. And it was the greatest. It was so much fun... It was this big leap into a void with -- with the cost and you kind of went well, I guess that's the time. You know what I mean? So... it went from terrifying to just the most extraordinary experience in about, well, 45 minutes."

Marvel Studios has launched an Emmy campaign for WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with WandaVision competing in the Outstanding Limited Series category and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier going for Outstanding Drama. WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaffer was also a guest on The Awardist, where she discussed a cut plotline that would have seen Monica Rambeau going to therapy.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes/Agatha Harkness. The series is available to stream on Disney+.
