The cast of Joel Hodgson's Kickstarter-funded "Mystery Science Theater 3000" reboot continues to grow, adding more and more fan-favorite actors to the project. After announcing that Felicia Day would star as the show's primary antagonist, or Mad, series creator Hodgson has revealed the identity of another new cast member via an update to the project's Kickstarter page. Patton Oswalt will play Day's henchman, TV's Son of TV's Frank.

Like Day, Oswalt's Mad will be the child of a previous "MST3K" bad guy; Day will play Dr. Clayton Forrester's daughter while Oswalt will play the son of TV's Frank (if the name TV's Son of TV's Frank didn't give that away). Hodgson wrote about what inspired him to add Oswalt in the role, writing in the update that "the idea of Patton wearing black lab assistant's garb, with a big mound of silver hair and a spitcurl...? It was just really funny to me, in a visual / cross-referential / meta kind of way."

Hodgson says he initially approached Oswalt about being a guest writer for an episode, but he decided to "just go for it" and ask if the comedian would like to be in front of the camera as well. Patton agreed and even helped come up with the characters name; Hodgson said Oswalt wanted to be called "something like 'TV's Son of TV's Frank.'" Hodgson adds: "So I guess that's what we're going to call him."

The reboot will star Jonah Ray in the lead role with Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn providing the voices for the robots Crow and Servo.

The Bring Back “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ campaign has raised $3.2 million and is close to being funded for 6 episodes. The full season of 12 episodes unlocks at $5.5 million.
