Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, who had a recurring role last season on American Horror Story: Coven, has signed on to another horror series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she'll guest star in the second season of Penny Dreadful, the Showtime thriller that draws upon characters from 19th-century English and Irish literature, including Mina Harker, Abraham Van Helsing, Dorian Gray and Victor Frankenstein.

LuPone has been cast as a mysterious person from the past of Vanessa Ives, the enigmatic clairvoyant played by Eva Green.

Creator John Logan already revealed that Madame Kali, the medium played by Helen McCrory in episodes 2 and 8, will emerge as Season 2's human antagonist.
