There's mounting evidence that Patrick Stewart isn't ready to bid farewell to Charles Xavier, a character he's portrayed in seven films, after "Logan." But would the actor be willing to movie beyond the X-Men series to team up with, say, a certain Merc With a Mouth?

During a Twitter Q&A with co-star Hugh Jackman for "Logan," Stewart was asked whether he'd like to see Professor X meet Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. "Oh, I would love that," the actor said, turning to Jackman. "Just set it up. You have influence [...] Make it happen, Hugh."

Jackman then asked if anything else is going to be announced, and begins whistling to signify a secret. The two actors then laughed as Stewart motioned for the camera to cut off. Jackman ended by reiterating how he'd pay to see that meeting happen.

“Logan” is set in the near future, years after the epilogue of 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” In it, a weary Logan, whose healing factor is failing, cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.

Directed by James Mangold, the film also stars Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Dafne Keen and Stephen Merchant. "Logan" opens March 3.
