With a multitude of companions to choose from, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous brings relationships to the table that have the power to push the player toward their greatest potential, be it for ill or good. Depending on the type of path the player chooses, each companion has something unique to offer once they've been recruited to help them on their path.

Every companion comes with their own skillset, backstory and history that make them unique and interesting, and they all have their role to play both on and off the battlefield. Some provoke personal quests that need to be carried out, and some can even share a romance with the player, offering companionship and comfort during the trying time they're in.

Pathfinder Companions Wrath of the Righteous

Many of the game's companions have been through far more than any one mortal should ever be forced to endure. Ember, for instance, was born the year the Worldwound was opened, and when she was a child, her father took her to Kenebras to join the crusade. Upon their arrival, they were taken to serve demons and forced to suffer egregious hardships. When the inquisitors were notified of their position, they tried to burn father and daughter at the stake.

But Ember was saved by a Paladin, though not before her skin was hideously burned. Let loose and forced to wander the streets as a beggar in rags, this strange elven witch doesn't even remember her real name. When she meets the player character, she finds a sense of renewed purpose. She can finally do what her father wanted all those years ago: join the crusade.

Ember can be recruited in the Market Square by saving her from crusaders before the attack on Defender's Heart. Because of the things Ember has seen in her short life, her mind has been damaged. Not only do many of her memories seem lost, but she retains the innocence and naivete of a child despite what she's suffered. She sees a world filled with possibility, believing that even those who've committed atrocities can be atoned and their wounds healed. And even though she knows there is little to no hope, she still manages to see the good and find light in the darkness.

Recruiting Ember Wrath of the Righteous

Her strange optimism is often a point of ridicule from the other companions in the party, but Ember doesn't seem to even notice their scorn. She greets criticisms and cruelty with a warm smile no matter what the world seems to throw at her.

Her story may be one of the most tragic and heartrending, but the skills and power she brings to the party are nothing to sneeze at. As a Stigmatized Witch, Ember isn't required to prepare her spells each day like a Wizard, instead having access to everything she knows and able to cast so long as she has the available spell slots to do so. Her core stat is Charisma, and she couples necromantic magic with powerful hexes much like a Warlock.

Building her as a Fire Witch is almost bittersweet, considering what she's been through, but harnessing the power of flame with spells like Firesnake, Fireball, Scorching Ray and Firestorm make it known that though she may have once been burned, she drew that fire into herself and will unleash it on those who deserve it. She automatically has access to these spells as she levels up, so there's no need to take them when building her. She also has access to some decent healing magic, like Cure Wounds and Heal, which will always come in handy no matter what the party faces.

To access the full potential of Ember's power, it's important to avoid multiclassing her. As she levels up, she is given everything she needs to become a powerful force to be reckoned with. To improve what she's already been given, take Mythic Feats like Spell Focus, Sorcerous Reflex and Expanded Arsenal. Mythic Abilities to consider for Ember would be leveling her casting from Abundant to Greater Abundant and taking advantage of Favorite Metamagic.
