South Korean actor Park Seo Joon has reportedly joined the cast of The Marvels.

According to Allkpop, Park will portray Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel's husband Prince Yan, the leader of a musical planet where everyone living there must sing to communicate with one another, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment. In Marvel Comics, Yan was the Prince of Aladna, a planet where every inhabitant speaks in rhymes, and first appeared in 2014's Captain Marvel #9.

Park is the latest star to board the cast of The Marvels. Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris will co-lead the upcoming science-fiction blockbuster film, reprising their roles from previous MCU properties as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, respectively. Samuel L. Jackson will also be back as former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, a role he has reprised in over a dozen MCU projects since his debut in 2008's Iron Man. Zawe Ashton, who is engaged in real life to Tom Hiddleston (a.k.a. MCU's Loki), has been cast as the film's villain.

The Marvels Includes a Lot of Body Swapping

Captain Marvel 2 was announced in July 2019, with the sequel officially titled The Marvels in May 2021. Although The Marvels was originally envisioned as a sequel to Captain Marvel, the film has been redeveloped to continue storylines introduced in the Disney+ series WandaVision and Ms. Marvel. Specifically, the upcoming MCU film will pick up after the post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel's Season 1 finale, which saw Kamala Khan suddenly swapping places with Carol Danvers after her magic bangle activates. Marvel Studios has since confirmed that The Marvels will focus on Kamala, Carol and Monica having to team up to figure out why they swap places every time one of them uses their powers.
