Paramount Pictures is moving up the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third and final installment of Michael Bay's action franchise, from July 1 to June 29.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the shift from a Friday to a Wednesday release apparently had been planned all along, which raises the question of why the studio bothered to print all those posters emblazoned with "July 1."

The announcement comes just as Paramount rolled out a second clip from the 3D film, this time featuring Josh Duhamel as Major Lennox with his NEST team. Unlike the first clip, this one offers some action. But still no giant robots ...

Transformers: Dark of the Moon also stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, John Turturro, Frances McDormand, Peter Cullen and Tyrese Gibson.

The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009′s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
