As part of its year-long celebration of Mario's 35th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing Paper Mario: The Origami King next month, bringing players back to the paper vision of its classic characters.

The trailer sees Olly, the eponymous Origami King, arriving and plunging the Mushroom Kingdom in disarray. This causes Mario to go on an all-new adventure and liberate Princess Peach's castle once again.

Interestingly, the combat system has changed for The Origami King. Mario is able to spin and slide his opponents' orientation around the battlefield to strategically unleash devastating attacks. In addition to classic Mario enemies, The Origami King introduces the Legion of Stationary: massive animated office supplies that take on Mario at the end of each level.

Developed by Nintendo, Paper Mario: The Origami King will be released on July 17 for Nintendo Switch.
