Nintendo has announced Paper Mario: The Origami King for the Switch.

The game was announced with a trailer on YouTube, which shows off the game's updated visual style. While the start of the trailer primarily takes place in Peach's Castle, the rest of the footage showcases an array of familiar Mario franchise locations, as well as some new places. There are also some news teases as to what this iteration of the Paper Mario franchise's combat system will look like.

You can read the synopsis for Paper Mario: The Origami King from Nintendo's website for the game below:

The kingdom has been ravaged by an origami menace! Join Mario and his new partner, Olivia, as they team up with unlikely allies like Bowser and the Toads to battle evil Folded Soldiers.

Try to free Princess Peach’s castle from the clutches of King Olly in this comedy-filled adventure, only on the Nintendo Switch system.

The website teases the "1,000 Fold Arms" ability, which will allow players to solve origami related puzzles and rearrange enemies in battle for maximum efficiency. While much of the combat seems in line with previous games in the franchise, the battlefield will now be circular and involve several layers of rings.

The original Paper Mario released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64. There are six games in the franchise in total, with the latest being Paper Mario: Color Splash. That game released on the Wii U in 2016 and holds a 76 on Metacritic.

Paper Mario: The Origami King releases July 17.
