Jason Fuchs, writer of the upcoming film "Pan," is reportedly in negotiations with Warner Bros. to write the "Wonder Woman" screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Wonder Woman" -- the long-awaited first solo feature starring the iconic DC Comics superhero -- will be directed by Michelle MacLaren and star Gal Gadot, who will debut as Wonder Woman in the Zack Snyder-directed "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," scheduled for release on March 25, 2016. That film will mark Wonder Woman's first live-action feature film appearance in the character's nearly 75-year history.

Fuchs' "Pan," scheduled for release in July 2015 and also at Warner Bros., is a new take on the Peter Pan mythology, featuring Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard. Fuchs, 28, also has a background as an actor and his other writing credits including "Ice Age: Continental Drift" and Nickelodeon musical "Rags."

"Wonder Woman" is expected for release on June 23, 2017.
