Paddington 3 has a production start date as Studiocanal unveils its lengthy list of upcoming films and TV shows.

The studio announced at Cannes that Paddington 3 will start shooting in Q2 of next year, Deadline reported. Paddington 2's Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton all contributed to the story, and Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont are tackling the screenplay. A director for the film has not yet been announced, but previous writer/director Paul King won't be returning for the third film. He is expected to be involved in some capacity, however. Producer David Heyman will also return for the threequel.

Studiocanal also confirmed that a third season of The Adventures of Paddington is in the works, with Heyman's company Heyday once again working on the project. The continuation of the massively popular Paddington franchise is part of Studiocanal's plan to invest $1 billion in content until 2024. Also in the works on the film side are Role Play starring Kaley Cuoco, War Magician starring Benedict Cumberbatch and directed by Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain starring Cumberbatch, The Garden of Beasts from Tom Hanks' Playtone production company, the Liam Neeson films Retribution and a sequel to Cold Pursuit and the previously announced Evil Dead Rise and Attack the Block 2.

In the world of TV, a third season of War of the Worlds is in the works, along with The Blue Hour, based on Douglas Kennedy's book. Also on the slate are N.E.O., from author Michel Bussi; Butcher’s Hook with Swedish writer and director Måns Mårlind; and Corto Maltese, based on the graphic novels by Hugo Pratt.

Created by Michael Bond, Paddington first appeared in 1958's A Bear Called Paddington. An anthropomorphized bear, Paddington is famous for his political manner, love of marmalade and wearing an old red hat with his trademark blue duffel coat.

They were also critically acclaimed, with Paddington 2 earning nominations at the British Academy Film Awards for Outstanding British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Hugh Grant's performance as the movie's villain. The movie was also briefly the best-review film on Rotten Tomatoes, besting Citizen Kane.
