A new IMAX-exclusive trailer has arrived for the upcoming sci-fi action sequel Pacific Rim Uprising. What it lacks in story details, it more than makes up for with titanic robots-versus-monsters action, offering new scenes of the heroic Jaegars punching Kaiju.
The trailer exists to show the scale that will be offered when seeing the film in IMAX, and in that respect, it gets the job done. With IMAX, the film will be digitally remastered so its image and sound quality provides the best experience imaginable. The trailer's tagline of "Nothing can prepare you" has never felt more accurate.
Set 10 years after the events of the original film, humanity has been using Jaegars as a peacekeeping defense force in the event that the Kaiju ever return. Now that they have, it falls to Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), and a handful of newcomer pilots to save the world. Not just from the Kaiju, but from a rogue organization that has a Jaegar of their own.
