A poster displayed this weekend at the Tamashii Nations World Tour in New York City depicts a schematic at the enormous robot, highlighting such features as the pilot chamber, elbow rocket, chain sword, airborne launch system and dual vortex turbine.

Director Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim” introduced a future in which Earth is under assault from colossal monsters called kaiju that emerge from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Although few details are known about “Pacific Rim: Uprising,” it’s thought to take place years after the events of the first film, with John Boyega starring as Jake Pentacost, son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the film also stars Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian, with Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman reprising their roles from the original film. “Pacific Rim: Uprising” opens Feb. 23, 2018.
