The sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim" doesn't arrive in theaters for nearly 10 months, but we already have the first detailed look at the design for Gipsy Avenger, one of the new generation of jaegers featured in "Pacific Rim: Uprising."
A poster displayed this weekend at the Tamashii Nations World Tour in New York City depicts a schematic at the enormous robot, highlighting such features as the pilot chamber, elbow rocket, chain sword, airborne launch system and dual vortex turbine.

Director Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" introduced a future in which Earth is under assault from colossal monsters called kaiju that emerge from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. To combat the creatures, humanity created enormous robots called jaegers controlled by two pilots linked by a neural bridge.
Although few details are known about "Pacific Rim: Uprising," it's thought to take place years after the events of the first film, with John Boyega starring as Jake Pentacost, son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the film also stars Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian, with Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman reprising their roles from the original film. "Pacific Rim: Uprising" opens Feb. 23, 2018.
