The following contains spoilers for Season 2 of Pacific Rim: The Black, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's Pacific Rim: The Black truly expanded the franchise Guillermo del Toro kicked off, focusing on the human-kaiju war down in Australia. After dropping bombs on the continent, the Pan Pacific Defence Corps more or less left the mainland to fend for itself, although there was a base in Sydney that young Taylor and Hayley Travis were trying to get to.

It was made even more difficult when the witches known as the Sisters, and their High Priestess, began hunting the siblings down. They were hoping to take the human-kaiju hybrid, aka Boy, and make him their messiah, which set up an explosive yet bittersweet ending.

What Happened to Boy and the Witches?

Pacific Rim: The Black saw Boy kill the High Priestess

Season 2 saw the Sisters kidnap Boy, but thankfully, Taylor and Hayley found their long-lost mom, Brina, and broke her out of the priestess' hold. They were able to use her insight to infiltrate the lair and steal back Boy, but as they fled, they lost allies such as Shane and sadly, Brina, along the way.

It culminated in the Sisters tapping into Boy's mind from afar, triggering his Kaiju form to attack the siblings in their Atlas Destroyer jaeger. Luckily, Apex (a kaiju-jaeger hybrid) helped Boy regain hold of his body, but that ended in tragedy as Boy's monstrous form left Apex mortally wounded. This led to the Sisters sending a variety of kaiju to capture the heroes as they fled their territory.

What Happened Outside Sydney Base?

Pacific Rim: The Black saw Brina get killed

Sydney picked up Atlas Destroyer racing toward them on their radar, but they weren't sure if Taylor and Hayley were telling the truth. All they saw were kaiju chasing them, so they decided to fire missiles on all parties. It led to the Sisters being blown up, although one massive kaiju escaped and began attacking Atlas Destroyer.

However, Loa the A.I. tapped into her humanity and compassion and ejected Taylor and Hayley. She self-destructed Atlas Destroyer, ensuring the giant beast died too. This act made up for her past when she allowed humans to dictate the odds, which got pilots killed in her machine. Ironically, with Boy back in his human form, he ended up impaling the Priestess and killing her, so she'd stop trying to corrupt him and Mei.

What Happened to Mei's New Family?

Pacific Rim: The Black saw Shane get killed

Pacific Rim: The Black ended with the heroes being brought into the facility. Rask, the boss in charge, took care of them, shockingly revealing the siblings' father, Ford, was alive and well. It was an endearing reunion, but Ford was broken after hearing Brina survived only to die after being manipulated by the Sisters. What crushed him was how the Corps couldn't let him go back into the mainland, so he felt tremendously guilty.

Nonetheless, they accepted what they had in the present. They honored Brina at her grave, with Mei and Boy sticking around as well. Rask confessed they were trying to study him in the Meridian lab when chaos broke out, so this hinted they'd resume work -- but this time, Mei would be a big sister watching over Boy.

Mei finally let go of Shane and her old mercenary friends too, grateful she got a second lease at life. She didn't even care about rebooting her memories anymore with Shane's USB; she just wanted to start anew.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Pacific Rim: The Black are now streaming on Netflix.
