'Pacific Rim' comes to tiny life with this LEGO exoskeleton

We may be on the verge of a world much like that of Pacific Rim, only we're going to need the kaiju to be the size of house cats.

Brick enthusiast and tech head Danny Benedettelli has constructed a pint-sized humanoid LEGO robot, called Cyclops MK II, that he can control with a wearable exoskeleton (or "exosuit"). Check out the video demonstration below.

As MAKE explains, Benedettelli built Cyclops four years ago using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT system and an Android cell phone. The robot links connects through Bluetooth to the exosuit, which contains an Arduino microcontroller that transmits Benedettelli's movements back to Cyclops.

The website notes that while this kind of robotic control certainly isn't new, the use of LEGO bricks lowers the cost of materials considerably. Which means soon, there could be entire armies of little LEGO Jaegers ready to defend the world from equally tiny kaiju.
