Few plot details surrounding the movie have been announced, however, it is known that Boyega stars in the highly anticipated sequel and will play the son of Idris Elba's character, Stacker Pentecost. The photos don't show much action, but they do indicate that shooting is underway.

Shooting for the film began in early November, in Australia. Boyega will be joined by Scott Eastwood, Ron Perlman, Tian Jing, Max Martini and Nick Taraby in the sequel. “Spartacus” alumni Steven S. DeKnight will make his feature directorial debut with the sequel. Guillermo Del Toro is producing.
