It’s been a while since we’ve heard much on the upcoming “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom." When we last heard any news, a good portion of the cast had been filled out -- but after today, we can add one more name to that list.

Nick Tarabay, who played the character Ashur on the Starz TV program “Spartacus," has joined the cast of “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom." Tarabay will be directed by “Spartacus” alumni Steven S. DeKnight. John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, and Jing Tian also star in the film.

According to John Boyega (via Instagram), the crew just got to work on the film this week, with shooting scheduled to take place in Australia. Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and Guillermo Del Toro will be producing the upcoming action adventure film. Not many plot details have been released so far, but we do know that Boyega will be playing the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first film.
