On the heels of Jing Tian's casting, the cast of "Pacific Rim 2" continues to grow. According to Variety, Levi Meaden will play "an irreverent and offbeat cadet" in the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's cult classic film. Meaden, who currently stars in SyFy's "Aftermath," joins John Boyega, Cailee Spaeny, Scott Eastwood and more in Warner Bros.' futuristic sci-fi adventure.

Though we know that Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost, most of the details on the plot and characters of "Pacific Rim 2" have been kept under wraps. Directed by del Toro, the first "Pacific Rim" saw Earth fighting for survival against inter-dimensional monsters. The film had moderate success at the US box office but performed well overseas, grossing $410 worldwide.

In addition to "Aftermath," Meaden has had recurring roles in "Olympus," "The Killing" and "The 100." He has also appeared in episodes of The CW's "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" and "iZombie."

"Pacific Rim 2," which starts filming this November and will take place in China and Australia, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 23, 2018.
