WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Season 1, Episode 16 of The Owl House, "Enchanting Grom Fright," available now on Disney Channel.

The Disney Channel animated series The Owl House has taken a major step in making the LGBTQ+ fan-shipping of protagonist Luz and Amity, aka Lumity, officially canon. "Enchanting Grom Fright," the latest episode of The Owl House, concluded with the revelation that Amity planned to ask Luz to be her date to the school's Grom, Hexside's version of prom.

Earlier in the episode, Luz was excited to learn that her new magical school has a prom, but there was a significant difference between the two. Grom is an abbreviation for a monster that lives underneath the school, and whoever is elected Grom Queen must battle the monster to keep it from terrorizing the land. When Amity is chosen as queen, she tried to get out of it since the Grom can manifest a person's deepest, darkest secrets. Luckily, Luz stepped up to take Amity's place.

Luz was able to hold her own against the Grom, but once it changed into her mother, the momentum changes. Her mother believes Luz is off at camp and not stuck in another dimension, and Luz has been afraid to tell her mother the truth. Just as the Grom is about to defeat Luz, Amity jumped in to help her friend. The Grom then changed into Amity's darkest fear, which appeared to be another classmate who then took a letter out of Amity's pocket and ripped it into two pieces. One of the pieces unraveled on the floor to reveal Amity was going to ask someone to be her date to the Grom. When Luz saw this, she volunteered to be Amity's date. The two then locked arms and performed a magical dance that defeated the Grom. Before the "Enchanting Grom Fright" ends, Luz asked Amity who she planned on asking on a date. Amity blew the question off, but the camera panned to the ground to show the second piece of paper with Luz's name on it.

Luz and Amity began as rivals, but The Owl House has slowly built up a friendship between the two girls. Once Luz learned that they share many of the same interests, she has tried to befriend Amity. Since then, their relationship has continued to grow, with more clues being dropped that feelings could be brewing. While fans are aware of Amity's feelings for Luz, they will have to wait and see if and when Luz makes her feelings known as well.
