Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord is not your typical isekai hero, "hero" might also not be the word to describe him either. The undead Sorcerer King of the Great Tomb of Nazarick was sent to a new world in the body of his in-game avatar, with all the powers and resources he had too, to find his comrades and maybe conquer this new world while he's at it.

Being both the protagonist and the antagonist of this series, Ainz is prepared for just about anything, thanks to his immense power and all the treasures Nazarick has to offer. He's powerful even by isekai standards, though not entirely invincible to other isekai heroes.

11 Could Beat: Sora & Shiro (No Game No Life)

Sora and Shiro studying a device in No Game No Life.

Siblings Sora and Shiro were a couple of shut-ins who got the chance of a lifetime when the two got transported to another world where their gaming and strategy skills become their greatest tools. Unlike most isekai, No Game No Life is all about deciding things with a game, but against Ainz, the two wouldn't stand a chance.

While Sora and Shiro are geniuses in games, in an actual battle of swords and sorcery, their skills are at an average human level at best. In a battle of wits, they may give Ainz a run for his money, but in a real fight, it wouldn't even be close.

10 Would Lose To Seiya (Cautious Hero)

Cautious Hero

Many isekai heroes are known for being overpowered right out of the gate, and Seiya Ryuuguuin embodies that to a T, alongside his overwhelmingly cautious tendencies. Seiya is the type to prepare long before he even knows what he's up against, so against Ainz, he might actually be well equipped.

Seiya's stats were insane even before he started training and getting an insane amount of godly abilities, so he could likely keep up with Ainz already. His cautious habits might also be a strength in this fight, too, especially his constant use of holy water, which Ainz would be hurt by.

9 Could Beat: Mamako (Do You Love Your Mom And Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?)

do you love your mom and her two-hit multi-target attacks, mamako oosuki

Though completely inexperienced in an MMORPG-like setting, Mamako Oosuki is fortunately just as good at defeating enemies as she is at embarrassing her son. Thanks to the two holy swords that give her two-hit multi-targeted attacks and her many "mom-themed" techniques, Mamako starts off her adventure insanely overpowered. However, that may not be enough against the Sorcerer King himself.

While Mamako can resist all negative status effects, she doesn't have the same resistance to magic attacks themselves. Ainz is loaded with resistance that has shrugged off stronger skills than hers. On top of that, likely, Ainz would also be immune to Mamako's motherly techniques since his emotions are suppressed.

8 Would Lose To: Shin (Wise Man's Grandchild)

Shin Wolford from Wise Man's Grandchild.

Reincarnated and adopted by the mage, Merlin, Shin Wolford may have zero common sense, but he's a force to be reckoned with when it comes to magic. Having just about every kind of magic under the sun, Shin's strength in the mystic arts is a ridiculous level of overpowered, and it may just be too much for even Ainz.

While the two have a plethora of skills that could match each other, Shin has one major advantage over Ainz, and that's his ability to negate magic with ill-intent. With this in mind, Shin can literally erase any spell Ainz throws at him or even disenchant his items, which he has few (if any) options to counter that with.

7 Could Beat: Kazuma (Konosuba)

Konosuba, Kazuma Breaks His Neck

Even when Kazuma thinks he's prepared and well equipped for any situation, the universe ends up beating him into the dirt. It then kicks him while he's down (both metaphorically and literally)So Kazuma probably has less than a 0% chance in this fight.

Kazuma's stats are all average except for "Luck," which always ends up being bad luck somehow, so his attacks and skills probably wouldn't do much to Ainz. Also, Kazuma and his party only seem to win using cheap tricks and crazy "spur of the moment" tactics, none of which would work on someone like Ainz. Even if he didn't use any magic, Ainz would still be strong enough to crush Kazuma with his bare boney hands.

6 Would Lose To: Maou (The Devil Is A Part-Timer)

he Devil Is A Part-Timer Sadao Maou Cropped

It takes a special kind of monster to beat a powerful undead sorcerer like Ainz, but nobody would probably guess this would include MgRonald's star employee. Despite his unassuming look as a fast-food worker, Maou is actually a Demon Lord, known and feared by the people of Ente Isla who went to Japan and making his story a "Reverse Isekai."

Though weaker than he was on Ente Isla, Maou's demon form still has overwhelming power that could give Ainz a hard time. At first, the two seem like they'd be evenly matched, but what really sends Maou over the top is his high-durability and resistance to many forms of magic, even holy magic, which is something Ainz is actually weak to. The scary part is that Maou can do this while not even at full strength.

5 Could Beat: Kirito (Sword Art Online)

In the virtual worlds, Kirito can somehow solve any problem before him. He can even break the game with the sheer force of his will. It's fair to say that Kirito can adapt to just about any situation, though that may not be enough against someone like Ainz.

All of Kirito's best abilities are in virtual settings, not the physical ones. Still, assuming he has all those skills, even those wouldn't be potent enough to beat Ainz, who has decimated adventurers and whole armies without even breaking a sweat. Ainz is just on a much higher level than Kirito, with all his high tier spells and various immunities that Kirito has no counters for, like the "instant death" spell.

4 Would Lose To Diablo (How Not to Summon A Demon Lord)

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Diablo

Much like Ainz, Diablo was also sent to another world and turned into his gaming avatar, with all the stats too. Given their backgrounds, they're two birds of a feather, and their insanely powerful abilities would make this an interesting fight, but Diablo may have the win here.

Diablo was built for PVP, which gives him loads of experience while also being balanced as a physical fighter and a spellcaster. He also can resist all status ailments and has the ability to deflect magic, which limits Ainz's methods of attack since he's mainly a spellcaster. Diablo is more than prepared for an enemy like Ainz.

3 Could Beat: Tanya (Saga of Tanya The Evil)

2 Tanya Laughing At An Enemy She Is About To Destroy

Tanya von Degurechaff may look like a small child, but underestimating her would be a grave mistake. After being reincarnated, Tanya gained magical abilities, such as flight, creating barriers, telekinesis, and embuing bullets with explosive force. Tanya quickly rose to high military status, thanks to her merciless tactics and resourcefulness, but she'd probably fall short of victory against Ainz.

While Tanya's bullets can reach the destructive force, Ainz has survived being in the middle of similarly destructive spells (which he himself cast). Ainz's magic is just far more versatile and destructive compared to Tanya's.

1 Would Lose To Rimuru (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)

Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Though it may be hard to believe, an insanely powerful undead mage like Ainz would probably be defeated by the most unlikely creatures, a slime. Rimuru Tempest is a slime unlike any other with plenty of abilities, like shapeshifting, a wide range of magic, and the ability to absorb enemies with "Predator."

Already Rimuru is more than a match for Ainz, but unfortunately for the skeleton sorcerer, Rimiru is basically resistant to just about everything; there's literally no magic or physical skill that can hurt him, making him pretty much invincible, even to Ainz. Not to mention, Rimuru could most likely use the predator skill to absorb Ainz too.
