The cultivation of their bonds was well-written, resonating and struck a chord with readers. On a side note, we're aware there's a menagerie of other couples whose bonds are/were just as meaningful, but for one reason or another haven't received the same spotlight. They existed across a broad range of various mediums within the Marvel Universe from comic books to TV shows.

10 Johnny Storm And Crystal

Original member of the Fantastic Four and notorious Lothario (with a penchant for rapping) Johnny Storm has swooned many women over the years. However, it was Inhuman Crystal who took Storm's breath away when they met for the first time. While dating they both worked together when Crstyal joined the Fantastic form after his sister Sue left on maternity leave.

While their union was affectionate they faced some issues due to Storm's brash behavior. In the end, their relationship closed after Crystal couldn't tolerate human pollutants any longer and she returned to her home Attilan. Storm moved on as did Crystal when she met and later married Avenger Quicksilver.

9 Peter Parker/Spider-Man And Indy

In 2003, MTV released a show titled Spider-Man New Animated Series. The story followed Peter Parker's evolution as Spider-Man while attending college with his friends Harry Osborn and Mary-Jane Watson. Indira a.k.a. Indy was a character created for the show who served as a foil for Watson's and Parker's budding relationship.

The two were acquainted at a TV station and dated shortly after eventually becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. The two had amazing charisma and bounced off each other with interesting wordplay. Their relationship like the series was short-lived as the show only lasted thirteen episodes. It's said the character was a mixture of two of Spider-Man's famous love interests Gwen-Stacy and Betty Brant.

8 Wolverine And Storm

Now, some may call sacrilege on this pairing as many are fans of Storm and Black Panther's pairing. However, one can't deny the chemistry and history these two characters shared. Especially Black Panther who asked Storm to date, anyone, besides Wolverine following their annulment. Originally starting as friends Wolverine had feelings for Storm but was mainly interested in Jean Grey.

Regardless, they supported one another in dark times such as when Storm lost her powers and he trained her. Wolverine reminded her she could still be a hero without her abilities. They'd go on after to date after she and Black Panther ended their union and ran Jean Grey's School together. In one iteration they even have a daughter together.

7 Miles Morales And Gwen Stacy

Spider-Gwen kisses Miles Morales

Despite belonging to separate dimensions Miles Morales (Spider-Man) and Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen) down the line shared a sweet, long distanced relationship. In Spider-Man #12, Morales initially wound up in Stacy's universe to find his father. They worked together and found themselves growing closer. By the end of the comic they sort of became official and in future issues traveled to each other's dimensions for date nights. They inevitably decided to take things slow after encountering their future selves and children.

6 She-Hulk And Wyatt Wingfoot

While a member of the Fantastic Four Jennifer Walters a.k.a. She-Hulk was introduced to Johnny Storm's wing-man Wyatt Wingfoot. Wingfoot was immediately taken with the hero. She found herself uncharacteristically open about her feelings with him and he in return provided her with abundant support and understanding.

They went on several missions together. Wingfoot cared about Walters so much he gave up a position as tribe chief to travel with her. Eventually, he proposed, but would later break up with her.

5 May Parker And J. Jonah Jameson Sr.

The aunt of Peter Parker May was devastated by the death of her late husband Ben. Following his departure, May would eventually be introduced to J. Jonah Jameson Sr. by Peter's then-girlfriend Betty Brant.

The two clicked instantly and wasted no time. Within a month, things had gotten hot and heavy between them, just ask Peter. They quickly fell in love and later on married (much to J. Jonah Jr.'s chagrin).

4 Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner And Amanda Sefton

In the comics, Nightcrawler had an intimate relationship with his foster sister Amanda (yuck). However, it's in the show X: Men evolution where they shined (and weren't siblings). In high school, Nightcrawler and Sefton both had feelings for each other, but he was too timid to act on his emotions. However, after Sefton asked him out to a school dance she confessed she knew about his mutant form (which he's insecure about), but assures him she doesn't mind. Afterward, they become inseparable and were one of the longest-running couples on the series.

Amanda's support and encouragement caused Nightcrawler to appreciate his mutant features and become more confident as a person. While they faced some difficulties, such as Amanda's parents' disapproval they've managed to stick together.

3 Scarlet Witch And Brother Voodoo

It's hard to imagine Scarlet Witch with anyone besides Vision, but Brother Voodoo was definitely the exception. In the comic Uncanny Avengers, these two highly powerful magical beings were established as an item. And were looking to find a place to call their own.

They found solace in one another, particularly Scarlet Witch. She explained that he validated and understood her two identities/capabilities as a woman and a witch. His devotion to her was unwitting as he rescued her and served as emotional support whilst she recovered from demonic possession.

2 Ben Grimm/The Thing And Alicia Masters

A classic beauty and the beast love story. When Fantastic Four member Grimm met Masters he was in a dark place being ashamed of his new mutated form. Despite being blind Masters used her hands to feel Grimm's face and became enthralled after sensing his sensitive and kind nature.

Even when Grimm returned to his human state she felt more secure in his Thing form. During their courtship, Grimm progressively grew less self-conscious about his new appearance and even embraced it due to Masters' compassion. They would take turns saving each other. Eventually, they break up, but later on, reconnected and got married.

1 Mystique And Destiny

Mystique surprises Destiny and hugs her.

The two villains have had a complicated history. By complicated we mean their relationship status was obscure. They'd known each other for decades.  Having established the second Brotherhood together and raised mutant Rogue as their own. They were inseparable and were simply deemed *close* friends.  However, Mystique and Destiny's co-creator Chris Claremont always wrote them as a couple, even though Marvel hadn't recognized them as such until recently.  In fact, Claremont wanted them to be Nightcrawler's biological parents and not just Mystique. Yet, this was shot down by Marvel's then Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter.

Believe it or not, there were still more underrated Marvel couples we didn't cover.  Although, there's always room for future lists. Now, these couples may not carry the same weight as those listed above, but their love is just as powerful and potent. They stand out on their own merits. Proving there's no standard and they all come in their own shapes and sizes.
