Overkill's 'Walking Dead' first-person shooter delayed until 2017

Starbreeze Studios has quietly shuffled the release of Overkill's The Walking Dead first-person shooter game from this year to the second half of 2017.

The news arrived in a press release touting a $40 million investment in the company by South Korean publisher Smilegate. Starbreeze suggests the delay will allow The Walking Dead to launch simultaneously in Asian markets through the Smilegate platform.

Announced in August 2014, Overkill's The Walking Dead is a cooperative first-person shooter based on the long-running comic series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard that will utilize Starbreeze's upcoming virtual reality controller, the Star VR.

Published in North America by 505 Games, Overkill's The Walking Dead will launch next year on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
