Overheard at WizardWorld 2001, Part 3
  • [WizardWorld 2001]
Brian Azzarello’s masterful “100 Bullets” will be visiting Texas and California in the months to come. First up is a three-issue arc in which Dizzy Cordova travels to El Paso. Next up is a six-issue story set in Los Angeles that stars Milo, the bandaged man seen talking to Agent Graves in issue #27.

  • In other Azzarello news, the Chicago-based writer is working on a Sgt. Rock comic that should be out next year. Azzarello preferred war comics over superhero titles as a kid, so he should have a blast with this one – as readers surely will, too.
  • Writer Greg Rucka is planning to write a novel based on his “Queen & Country” series.
  • Marvel’s winter “Silent Month” event is around the corner, and writer Brian Michael Bendis let a hint slip about his “Daredevil” and “Elektra” issues that month: Both will depict the same story, but each one from its respective title character’s point of view.
  • Writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale are enjoying success now with “Daredevil: Yellow,” their first mini-series for the Marvel Knights line. The fan-favorite partners are talking with the folks at the House of Ideas about another Knights project, one starring a hero that “Tim has a jones to do,” Loeb says.
  • There always are a few fans who risk their dignity by coming to comic-book conventions in costume, and Wizard World 2001 was no exception. In addition to the usual Imperial stormtroopers that seem to be at every show, spies spotted one fan decked out as Patriot from “Rising Stars,” a snazzy Wonder Woman, one Tusken Raider and a really creative duo dressed as two of the Thundercats. Of course, there was also the guy wrapped in a sheet pretending to be a Jedi knight. Here’s a hint for next year, buddy: Don’t wear modern street shoes with your sci-fi costume.
