David Jenkins, creator and showrunner of Our Flag Means Death, proved to fans that he has mastered "The Art of F**kery" by teasing the show's season.Jenkins recently shared an image of the Season 2 premiere script for HBO Max's Our Flag Means Death on Twitter, conveniently blacking out the episode's title. "Anyone care to have their shit fucked up?" Jenkins wrote alongside the image, including emojis that depicted a pirate flag, a broken heart, and a unicorn. Jenkins likewise included the hashtag #JusticeForLuciusRip, possibly hinting at the fate of Lucius Spriggs (played by Nathan Foad).RELATED: Taika Waititi Knows Who Chris Hemsworth Would Play on Our Flag Means Death

The fate of Foad's pirate scribe, Lucius, was one of the prevailing cliffhangers from the Season 1 finale of Our Flag Means Death when the fan-favorite character seemingly died off-screen at the hands of Taika Waititi's Blackbeard. #JusticeforLucuisRIP began to trend on Twitter, with several members of the cast, including Foad himself, utilizing the hashtag.

It was announced that Our Flag Means Death had been renewed for a second season on June 1, the first day of Pride Month. Prior to the series' official renewal, pleas to HBO Max for a second season even led some fans to launch an old-school mail campaign to keep the series alive. "We felt the show was special while we were making it," Jenkins said in a statement when the show was renewed. "But fans' open-armed embrace of the inhabitants of the Revenge makes heading into a second season all the more sweet. Thanks to our team at HBO Max, our invested executive producers, and our wildly enthusiastic audience for making another voyage to this world possible."

Aside from Lucius' supposed death, the Season 1 finale of Our Flag Means Death saw Blackbeard embrace a post-breakup identity known as The Kraken after being seemingly abandoned by Rhys Darby's Stede Bonnet. This late-season arc led to a fracturing of The Revenge’s found-family crew, breaking up friendships and romances in the process.

While Jenkins' tweet confirmed that Season 2’s preproduction has gotten underway, it will still be some time before fans get their questions answered onscreen. When physical production restarts on Our Flag Means Death, it will now reportedly be shot on location in New Zealand. "We are so happy to bring this truly one-of-a-kind series back!" said the head of original content for HBO Max Sarah Aubrey of the show. "We congratulate David, Taika, Rhys and the entire talented cast and crew, and thank the show’s fans for embracing it wholeheartedly."

Our Flag Means Death’s entire first season is currently available to stream on HBO Max. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
