Oshi no Ko is a dark drama anime with a totally different tone than author Aka Akasaka's previous work, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. These series appear to take place in separate universes, but some fans are open to the possibility of a shared Oshi no Ko/Kaguya-sama continuity, with Pieyon being the potential first link.

Both anime series take place in a modern Japanese setting, making it easy to combine these universes, even if there haven't been any direct references to one another. That's where Pieyon comes in -- a mysterious bodybuilder with a strong online following and a bizarre, Tweety Bird-style mask to hide his true identity.

Evidence That Oshi No Ko's Pieyon Is Kaguya-sama's Kazeno

Oshi no Ko fans are already speculating about who exactly the enigmatic Pieyon really is and why he always hides his face with such a cartoonish bird mask. He may simply be shielding himself from the dark side of the Internet and social media, but his bird mask might also be hiding a familiar face that Kaguya-sama fans will know. It's not yet confirmed what's under that bird mask, leaving room for all kinds of speculation -- including an anime crossover.

So far, the strongest theory is that Pieyon is Kazeno from Kaguya-sama, a burly Shuchiin Academy student who's part of the cheer team. Kazeno is energetic, lively and enthusiastic, similar to Pieyon's personality in Oshi no Ko. It's possible that Pieyon is an adult Kazeno who has found his niche after graduating from Shuchiin, slightly tempering his boisterous, youthful personality into something more mature but still charismatic and upbeat. Physically, Pieyon is similar to Kazeno, a well-muscled fellow who uses rigorous actions and quirky charisma to draw in fans. Pieyon and Kazeno even have the same voice actor in each anime series, which could be mere coincidence -- or else a key detail that may confirm Pieyon to be Kaguya-sama's most cheerful boy.

Should Oshi No Ko and Kaguya-sama Be Connected?

Both of Akasaka's major anime universes can and probably should be connected, with characters like Pieyon serving as bridges between the high school hijinks of Kaguya-sama and the intense drama of Oshi no Ko. Both anime series are popular and well-respected, and dedicated fans will have more to love if both universes overlap, allowing characters like Pieyon to wander back and forth between them. There's no evidence to the contrary, and a shared universe may launch a cool new trend in anime. Anime shows like Oshi no Ko don't need something on the MCU's scale to create a compelling shared universe -- just combining two compatible series from the same author should suffice, leaving room for a possible third in the future.

Such a crossover between Kaguya-sama and Oshi no Ko would also give minor side characters from each series another chance to shine and get fleshed out. Side characters like Kazeno in Kaguya-sama receive little development because the story focuses on the student council's members, so Oshi no Ko may provide some fan service and give Kazeno another chance. This allows even minor characters to have a clearly defined arc and personal timeline, showing fans what's become of them in their later years -- even if that means donning a wacky Tweety Bird-style mask and training Ruby and Kana in the ways of 21st-century marketing.
